Comfortable and relaxing hacienda in a beautiful setting with amazing views of the surrounding Andes

A 4x4 or vehicle with good suspension would be recommended for driving up the unpaved road that leads to the property (going in a regular airport taxi was a little challenging especially in the dark).
Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed with the exterior of the thoughtfully designed lodge and details throughout the main seating area. Raul, the owner met us and showed us to our warm and inviting room in which he had already prepared the wood-burning stove, which was much appreciated. We were also grateful when Raul offered us hot Guayusa tea which helped with the altitude sickness we were both experiencing, having just arrived in Quito. Our superb meals (dinner and breakfast) were true 'farm-to-table' and were prepared using local ingredients directly from the hacienda and surrounding farms. These were easily amongst the best meals we had in our 13 day visit to Ecuador. Raul's staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. Raul, was personable and we enjoyed his conversation and company, including the history he provided of the building and his family. In short, we had a wonderful, but brief stay, and regret that we didn't stay longer to enjoy exploring the grounds and hiking trails of the hacienda in this beautiful setting with amazing views of the surrounding Andes highlands.

Very tranquil setting just outside Quito

There was nobody at the accommodation to let us in at arrival. Apparently the booking (through booking.com, which we made 2 weeks in advance) had not reached the owner. We called the owner and had to wait for over half an hour outside (dark and rainy :(
Stunning location, away from it all at less than 1 hour driving from Quito. Dinner and breakfast excellent, with only very fresh (farm/home-made) products and excellent flavours.

Sierra Alisos is a beautiful sanctuary that will always have a place in my heart.

The energy and vibe here plus the gorgeous views feel like liberated luxury. I plan to return every year or two for personal time to meditate, write and recharge.

Beautiful place to stay right outside Quito.

While the room is great value, dinner felt a bit overpriced ($15 for pasta, salad and cake). But I understand that beggars can’t be choosers. And it was all tasty. Would be great if there was a self-catering option.
Beautiful grounds, so close to the highway but you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere (in a good way). As our kids said, “it’s a hobbit village!”
